Do I need an Attorney to by or sell my house? There are legal documents such as a Deed that need prepared by an Attorney.

Why did I not have to use an Attorney on my purchase in another state?  The laws of North Carolina require an attorney to review all records on file for that property.  Even though North Carolina is an attorney state, the title company plays a pivotal role in the closing. The attorney reviews and submits the title work to the title company so the property can receive title insurance.

What is title insurance?

Title insurance protects lenders and buyers from financial loss due to defects in a title to a property.

The most common claims filed against a title are back taxes, liens, and conflicting wills.
